We left Treasure Cay Sunday afternoon in a rage. Winds were 20 - 30 knots and seas were about 4 feet. It reminded me of "the crossing". We wanted to get back to Marsh Harbor because Monday and Tuesday's weather didn't look much better. We pulled into the fairway to our slip, couldn't make the turn because of the wind and then the wind caught us broadside and pushed us up against a catamaran at the end of the dock. After much pushing, shoving, pulling and a lot of help from onshore people we got tied up. Just then we saw Paloma approaching. Kelsey hailed them on the radio and told them to come in hot (fast), we had decided that we had approached the docking too slow and got stuck by the 25 knot winds. Dave roared down the fairway and into his slip without mishap but had the same trouble snugging up to dock as we did.
As it turned out Monday's weather was worse than Sunday so we were glad we made it back when we did. The day was spent recuperating and saying goodbye to the Gibsons, who had to return so Dave could get to WORK! The rage is still going on so we'll just spend our last two days in port, cleaning and packing for the trip home on Thursday. We plan to return for a two week sail in February and hopefully, be joined by our daughter and son-in-law.
Cheers!
