End of the term note:

Dear Lilia,

It's our pleasure to realize you this term. Thanks for your teaching. We like your class it's full of interesting than others. I hope we will have chance to study and live together in the next term. At the end. If you wouldn't go back American. We wish you have a wonderful spring festival in China.

From Bear & Matt

Also, the other day I was told what my Chinese name, Gao Li Lian, means (I was given my Chinese name by Jen Mei Ma before I left):
Gao (my "family name") means high or tall
Li means beautiful
Lian mean lotus

So whenever anyone calls me by my Chinese name, they are really saying, "Hey! Tall beautiful lotus! How are you?"

It's common to say the last part of a Chinese name twice as a nickname, so my Chinese nickname is LianLian. It's kind of funny to look back on my Chinese classes and realize that Huang Laoshi (my teacher--literally translated Huang Laoshi means "yellow teacher") was calling me "lotus lotus"! "Okay, lotus lotus, please read sentences 39-50!"

Apparently I look like a plant because everyone keeps naming me after them!
