Total kilometers: 16
Altitude: close to 0

When I wake up I am still pretty tired from losing my battle against a mosquito.

I have my breakfast in a sandwhich breakfast shop near the hostel and the bus station ( all close by ).  I had asked the same slow thinking man at the hostel reception if they would have breakfast and he had said " no ". Days later I shall learn from a lady at the reception that they serve breakfast for 60 NT, not inluded in the room price - yes, that's an answer I can live with.

I take the bus to the southern most tip with the village Fonggan. The roads are really well developed, wide, two lanes in each direction and through basically boring grey and brown countryside. At the end station I walk a bit around the coast, out to an old Japanes fort and then to some special stone formations which make a whistling sound when the high tide pushes the water into the cracks - now is low tide, so no whistling , will have to whistle myself. Some young men on a platform want to sell me some seaweed, but I decline as it is a pretty hot day, with luckily some breeze and I do not risk to spend the next days in a small quiet room. I visit the huge temple at the central place and then stroll through some old house in traditional style. They are mostly in pretty bad condition and not in use anymore, quite a pitty. I feel they are very charming. The walls are all made of coral stones, which reveal some interesting features and structures - please see my photos. I then walk back for about 2.5 hours the 10 plus kilometers, pass by other temples, some villages, see some folks drying seaweed. Otherwise the road is good for cars and bikes, but boring for walking.

Back in Magong I have a late lunch and then sit with an English newspaper ( from 7-11 ) in the Starbucks coffee shop on the upper terrace withe view on the harbor - that's what I like. Just in front of  the place is a large ocean ship made of concrete - a place selling fish products.

The rest of the day is less eventfull than the already uneventfull earlier part of the day. Therefore the night is as exiting as the previous. Sleeping... bzzzzz....wake up and so on - you know 'same procedure as last night'. Should be the same mosquito as last night - same sound, same smart ( it's not easy to confess to be outsmarted by a mosquito and to lose as a big man against a tiny beast ... but that's what happens ).

I would like to wish you a good night, but bzzzz , sorry I can't, too bus(zz)y.
