After some neighbors still chatted till 11:30 pm I can find rest. At 3:15am I hear 'plog - plog' on my tent. I know , although I hope it would be, that is is not from monkeys, squarrels, falling betel nuts or mangoes. So my sharp conclusion of a sleepy mind: Rain! It can't be, all predictions and local expertise were No No No, but Yes I feel the drops falling through the tent's ventilation hole. At first I try to continue sleeping hoping the few drops will fade away, but No, the rain gets stronger and the water is getting straight into my tent. I get up, crawl out of my tent and look shelter I did not see in the afternoon. I only see the overhanging roof of the main house. I move my tent ( I can take it with one hand, not because I am so strong, but because its's so small and light ) and go to sleep again
Breakfast in a breakfast shop at sail rock, taking a bus to Kaoshiung. In Kaoshiung I get on a Ho-Shing luxury bus with only two seats in a row and wide entertainment selection on seat LCD screens - like business class on an airplane. The tour bus take quite long because of heavy traffic and traffic jams caused by preparations on the No.1 freeway ( Sun Yat-Sen freeway ) for the Han Kuang military exercises. The exercise will include the landing of aircrafts ( F16, Mirage, IDF fighter jets ) on a stretch of the freeway designated for such events. I arrive in Taipei at 20:30pm, almost 11 hours after I took the first bus.
My next stretch I will walk will be the Southern Cross Highway No. 20. It really shows that it is impossible for me to walk 150 km on flat land in this heat. See you on the next mountain section. Sleep in my own bed! I need it!
