Sunday afternoon in Daan Forest Park in mid Taipei. Taiwan has a group of people which is very dedicated to bird watching. Dozens of high-tech photographers wait patiently outside a taped off area around a tree. Who is the star? What is the attraction? Yes, you read correctly, a tree, no special tree at first glance. Then someone makes me aware of the small hole in the tree, a hole made by a bird, a woodpecker. I am told that it is the Barbet bird or as locally known the Five-Color Bird or Wu Sze Niau - mainly green, but around its head with four other colors. I, for sure, miss the right time when the bird leaves the nest, or better hole in the tree - anyhow, my pocket camera would not be able to catch the bird in flight.
