Where I stayed
Another ferry trip, another island. Have we mentioned the Greek women yet?? They are marvelous! Strong and willful with playful husbands... gotta love them. Arrived in Naxos - pickup on schedule, Very proud island that takes pride on not existing on tourism - they are the agricultural heart of the islands. The harbor is beautiful, restaurants cheap and very traditional, people delightful. Loved our walk through the town and beaches - our legs did not. We go to the local COOP to buy our honey and wine in large plastic water bottles. The farmers bring in their products to sell - fabulous. Took an island tour all day today - toured a pottery home, olive oil press, the place where they make the local liquer of Kitron (citrus), and a marble quarry area. Ate lunch up in the cave of a restaurant - a table for 2.. Most lunches are a large Greek salad (they are all large) and bread. They eat supper around 10:00 - that is early for most! Lovely hotel - view of the sunset and Aegean sea.... we know are blessed, we do!
