¡Hola a todos!

My name is Katie Tolle, and for the fall of 2009 I'll be living in the beautiful city of Córdoba, Argentina! From the beginning of August to the end of November I plan to study Spanish culture, literature, and language at la Universidad Blas Pascal in South America as an international student.  Hopefully this will get me a lot closer to finishing my Spanish degree at Truman State University and will ultimately improve my ability to speak the language (without a noticeable nonnative accent).  It should also give me a chance to really delve deeper into the world of Argentine epic poetry and dialect, the subject of preliminary research I plan to continue next summer.  Of course, as a travel fanatic, the opportunities to live with an Argentinean family for four months and see all of the beautiful sites that the country has to offer are also completely amazing!

This blog will be maintained for a month before my departure on August 1st, during the four months I spend in South America, as well as for a month after my return to the United States.  Not only will I be posting my thoughts on what’s going on, but I’ll also be posting pictures, providing information on Argentina and the other places I visit and travel tips for those students looking to study abroad.

I should mention that this blog is also a follow-up project for the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program, which seeks to provide scholarship money to those undergraduate students typically underrepresented in the study abroad experience.  I was fortunate to receive a scholarship from them which really helped make my dreams come true.  For more information feel free to visit their website http://www.iie.org/Gilman.

I look forward to blogging with all of you soon!
