We´re back on the impossibly slow tour boat going back to Puno from the lake. I enjoyed being out on the lake but ít´s been hard not having had a proper handwashing with soap for two days. I also haven´t seen a toilet that flushed itself; you have to wash it down with a bucket of water. Hand sanitizer only goes so far and I want to reach civilization again. First thing I´ll do is take another hot shower at El Manzano. Then I´ll get more soles at an ATM. We might hit up the local artisan market and try to take a bike taxi to the center of town.
I think that travelling is teaching me some spiritual disciplines: patience, generosity, and endurance. Not that I am practicing them well, but I am at least learning about them. I am also feeling more fond for home and the people there. Sometimes you have to get away to fully appreciate what you have left behind.
