We left our home in Philadelphia around 6 am on 6/12, travelling with Air Canada via Toronto to Vancouver, arriving at 3:30 pm.
It was overcast, temp in the 50s - not what I was hoping for from my favorite city in the world. I've been to Vancouver previously in August, and it was GORGEOUS, and I've been in October, when it was chilly, windy, and rainy most days. This felt more like October than August.
So we didn't do much - just walked down to Canada Place and then over to Gastown for dinner. Of course I had to find a nanaimo bar, which is the most wonderful decadent dessert (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanaimo_bar ). (These are actually easy to make at home and just as de-LISH!)
A trip to their funky, spiral library was also in order.
We stayed at the Comfort Inn Downtown and were very pleased. They upgraded us to their suite, which was very nice with a flat screen TV and, more appealingly, an electric fireplace - very nice on that chilly, unpleasant day! (I soooo want one of these in my home now!) They also included a continential buffet that featured a make-your-own-waffle station - yum!
