Where I stayed
Today has been the funnest day ever. I believe it was my first time at a water park and i can't believe what i have been missing. We thought the weather was going to be good today so we headed off Aquatica. The sun was shinning down on us beautifully while we walked to the bus stop, got on the bus, got off at the water park, went to get some lunch then just was we settled down in the beach like setting that had been created. The sun decided to hide behind a big grayish cloud.
Not being defeated though we proceeded to strip down to our bikini's an relaxed on our sun loungers, enjoying the sun when it chose to peek through the clouds. I'm not gonna lie the idea of getting in the water was the last thing i want to do, but when Nicky braved it and ushered me in. I couldn't let her suffer alone so followed slowly. I was pleasantly surprised though. The pools had be heated to a temperature that actually made it quite bearable
The weather was still looking abit bleak but we decided we need to go explore so we payed $5 for a locker and $4 for a towel and went on our way. The first thing we did was go on the thing that made this water park unique to any other. We went on the slide which went straight though a dolphin tank. Which was great fun, you were plunged in the dark round and round in circles before coming to see through tunnel in which you could see the dolphins swimming around you. This really put us in the mood for some water park action.
The next thing we came across was a water rapid type thing called Loggers Lan. This was so much fun and also passed through a mini aquarium and the dolphin tank again. You had to float along the rapids on a Massive rubber ring. It was so relaxing apart from the odd waterfall to go through or water fountains. We got or underwater cameras at this point and had fun taking photo in the water which for me was a novelty as i hadn't done it before. The great thing was that the water was so warm through out the park, which made being in the water far more fun that sitting around trying to stay warm.
They had a slide that flowed in to Logger head that was called Tassies twister, you had to take your rubber rings on this one. You were sent through a tunnel before being spit out in to a bowl, where you were spun round and round until you slowed down in to the centre and were sent down a shoot into the pool
We got our picture taken from a bridge and were thrown down a wristband with the details on to see the picture later. We spend quite along time floating around on our rings, getting abit curious about what the rest of the park offered we wondered off on what we were sure was the scenic route around the park. After standing on lots of stones and listening to the main sound of the rainforest coming from speakers in the trees we reached a large slide called Taumater Racer. You went down this on you front facing forward on a mat. This at first was very daunting but after a few spins i was starting to be into it till i saw what from my perspective looked like a vertical drop, which of course it wasn't. Luckily i flew down it before i had chance to realize what i had done. Me and Nicky stood up and couldn't stop smiling. i hadn't realized water slide could be so much fun.
On to something abit more tame though we found another rapid Roa's rapid. This was different to the other one in size, warmth (oh so warm) and you didn't need a ring. We floated around, but sometimes struggled to keep our heads above water. So we checked out the life jackets. They were awesome it meant we could float around the rapids with ease, so much fun.
All the time we were on the rapids we could see a huge play area with lots of water, this became to hard to resist and we were soon playing like little kids amongst the climbing frames and slides all the time i was finding opportunities to soak other people
The day was coming to closes though and announcement were declaring and our left until the attractions closed. So we hurried of to make sure we did everything before we left. We went on the Walhalla wave, which was a huge ring that four people could fit it and went round the slide like a bobsleigh, me going backwards all the way. We also went on Whanau and Omaka Rocka. One was a double slide in which i sat behind Nicky and the other was a single which i feel purposefully turned you backwards in the middle of the slide as both me and Nicky experienced the same thing.
At 3.45 we retired to have a shower and get changed, we were exhausted by our day but both agreed it had been amazing fun. We rushed back to our hotel to get ready to go out for dinner, we had a Thai green curry at a Thai restaurant and then to Bahama breeze for cocktails.
It been a great day and we are both looking forward to our dolphin swim tomorrow at Discovery cove.
