First it was years, then months, weeks, days. Then it was next week, wednesday, tomorrow and now its too day, Now!.

It has not been an easy few days, saying good bye to my family and friends has been one of the hardest things i have ever had to do.  Now I'm sitting on the plane, looking forward to my big adventure.  It doesn't seem so scary now.

I got up at 5 this morning to get to the airport by half 10, but even with stopping for a full english on the way ended up arriving at 9:30.   After a struggle to find a parking space, in the extremly expensive car park, we eventually say down to a nice cup of coffee.  With the landing planes as a backdrop we talked about final plans and discussed the usual take care of your self speech of which we have become quite acustom to, Its nice to know that people care.  Nicky sat down for her 2nd meal of the day, soup and a bread roll which i'm sure will keep her going for all of 2 minutes.   (yeah, well, katie is gay.)-sed nicky as she was walking down the stairs on a cold dark night in the middle of winter when the moon reflected off the trees and the grass blow gently in the wind.  ok thats not true neither is what she sed see we can both lie.

Anyway, we check in and sent our bags off with the promise that they would reach our destination safely and would not be burnt in a furnace, sold on ebay or at auction.  Which is reasuring to know.  Then came the painful walk around the airport knowing that we were only biding our time until we had to say goodbye.

I knew saying goodbye to my parents wouldn't be easy,  I'm glad it was over quick.  Crying my eyes out Nicky held my hand as we walked through security.  I thought i wouldn't be able to get over the horrible feeling that made me want to run back. The mood was quickly lightened though by a security guard catching my eye and say "oi, no liquids"  at first i was confused by this, but later realised he was refering to my tears which made me smile.

Sitting and watching the planes i suddenly felt great comfort in the fact that this was the holiday of a life time and that i would be stupid not to embrass it.  So it was off to start our holiday in style with a cosmo.

Now i'm sitting on the plane with tikka, bread roll, salad, vanilla brule and two glasses of wine inside me.  I have watch despicable me and am now listening to Matt Cardle.  I've still got a snack to look forward to later, couldn't feel luckier (Nicky's Gleaming).

Tonight we have a mission down to the staue of liberty, and a long awaited trip to Dallas BBQ.  So hopefully i will get the try the legendary corn bread, which Nicky first experienced 2 years ago on our Last trip to the Big Apple.

3 hours and  27 mins to go and i'm now off to play solitaire.  The joys of having a laptop on a plane,  could have done with the internet but i aint complaining. So its bye for now from  11277m in the air, 12:45 New york, 5:41 Nottingham, 1519m from our destination at 516mph. We are chasing the light.
