Salzburg means "salt castle" due to its rich history of mining salt. Well, that's how the locals know their city, but for me I am more familiar with Salzburg because of its Sound of Music origin. Yet others may be familiar with Salzburg because of Mozart, as it is his birthplace. However one recognizes this green, mountainous place, I can definitely say that the views from the Fortress Hohensalzburg, were absolutely stunning. Please make sure to check out our video and pictures to get an idea of what we experienced. What stood out in my mind about Salzburg is that it's a clean, well maintained city, and it would make a great stop for 2-3 days. The castle was incredible, the Salzburg Festival was a musical treat, and the river ornately decorated the city's interior. On a random side note, we did have a funny, yet gross experience with the apartment that we rented. On day 2 of our stay in Salzburg, our morning bathroom routines apparently clogged the toilet. We called the owner, and our bathroom snafu caused a three hour visit from the plumber. Yuck!
