We did stay in Lucerne for a few days, and we had plans to travel all around Switzerland, however, Switzerland's expensive price tag persuaded us differently. In addition, this was also the point in our travels when we were tired of city after city so we decided just to relax on the lake. With Joshua being a little under the weather as well, it sealed the deal for us to just enjoy the scenery, kick up our feet, and not worry about planning for a little while. Weggis is a quaint, lake town that has farms all around and a gorgeous vista. During our stay we learned that Swiss cheesecake is similar to a quiche, their schnapps are not like ours in the U.S.(they are 54 proof), and running a hotel and restaurant is a lot of work. Well, I can definitely cross off "owning bed and breakfast" from my list. During our stay at Hotel Friedheim we were treated very well, and I loved that this family- run hotel had preserved the lodging so carefully. When I leafed through the hotel photographs and guestbooks, I realized that this place wasn't dated. Instead it served as a cherished time capsule celebrated by new and old patrons alike. When I return to Switzerland, I will visit the famous Jungfrau Mountain as intended, however, I am grateful for our Weggis visit that reminded me to just savor the moment and soak it all in.
