After a *short* 14 hour flight I made it to Incheon International Airport in Seoul, South Korea. Lucky for me I managed to sleep just about the entire flight, waking up only a couple of times to eat =)
Heather had given me instructions to catch a limo bus from the airport to Osan where her and Marga live. It was easy enough, and after a 2 hour bus ride I was at the Osan bus terminal to see Heather and Marga outside waiting for me!
We immediately went off to eat @ a Korean BBQ restaurant which was DELICIOUS! I was still a little dazzed as to where I was and still out of it from the time difference.
With an early start on Tuesday, Heather and I were off for 14 hour day of site seeing.
We went to Cheonan to see the "Big Buddah" and the temples, they were incredible, and the view from the top was breathtaking.
From Cheonan we went on to Seoul, visiting a few of the markets and the war museum. The war museum was just incredible. It was hard to believe that it was just over 50 years ago that this city was in the midst of a war that killed millions.
After the museum we went to Itaewon which is an area for foreigners, it was pretty crazy being in a bar in Korea, drinking an MGD & hearing Alicia Keys playing on the stereo.
Following Itaewon we went up the Seoul Tower in the evening which was amazing. The view of the city was crazy @ night seeing all of the lights.
Wednesday was not quite as insanely busy as Tuesday was, we headed back to Seoul for some more site seeing. We went to Gyeongbokgung Palace and made it just in time for the ending of the changing of the guards.
After the palace we were off to the markets for some shopping and a snack, before heading back to Osan to have dinner w/ Marga and some of the other teachers in Osan.
My visit to South Korea was far far to short, but we made the best of the time we had. Heather and Marga were great hostesses!
