08/03 - A final goodbye to LA & a very happy & excited hello to LAS VEGAS! Once we arrived at the hotel Johnīs surprise came knocking on the door only to crash tackle him to the floor. John thought we were being robbed & then realised it was Dean! John put on a really good stunned mullet impression for about 3 hours & once the shock wore off it was time to play!

We headed over to the Luxor casino & first things first we bought boots of Margaritaīs & Daiquirisīs. We went over to New York New York to ride the roller coaster which was fun, it had an amazing view of Vegas & then headed back to the Luxor for dinner. After dinner we went & saw a showgirls show called "Fantasy". It was pretty good, in the middle of the show they had a comedian come on. He was really funny & probably the highlight of the show, I personally can only look at boobies for so long. Dean & John on the other hand.....

09/03 - After breakfast we walked over to the Stratosphere to do the crazy rides & they were certainly crazy. The rides themselves are not that great but the fact you are about 1000ft about the ground & hanging over the edge the building is just ludicrous! Fun though!!

After we calmed down from that we went over to the MGM Grand Casino for a look around. We saw the lion habitat which was really cool & also the Studio 54 nightclub. We spent a couple of hours in the games arcade & won some cool prizes! We took Dean to M & M World, he thought it was silly until he got inside!! This one is 4 stories & has a 3-D show. After that we went to the Planet Hollywood Casino. For my birthday Dean, Sera, Flynn, Dave & Jane got me a beautiful pair of earing's & I got to get a massage, it was sooo good, the first massage I have had since Thailand. This place is amazing, everywhere sells alcohol & there are no restrictions as to where you can drink it. Itīs funny to just stroll the streets drinking Coronaīs or boots of Daiquirisīs. So we stayed at the Planet Hollywood for a while cause as long as you are gambling, even just playing the pokies, you drink for free. Itīs heaven here!! We decided to come back to the hotel to chill out for a while, drink some more, play some cards & catch up on all the gossip from Dean.

10/03 - Quite an early & hard start today after a few too many drinks last night. We are all off to the Grand Canyon. We had a short stop at the Hoover Dam for some photos, then a stop for some breakfast, finally we have found fresh bread in the USA!! The Canyon was spectacular. It was enormous & you are so high up. It was a little interesting though, there are NO fences, none, not even a piece of rope along the edge & people are just so blase about walking around the edge. It is unbelievable that more people do not fall off. I put my toe over the edge for about 2 seconds & that was enough for me. We had a look from a few different angles & then headed back. We stopped at the Hoover Dam again for a look from the other side & then back to Vegas.

We started at Circus Circus with some $3 blackjack. John & I lost, Dean didnīt do too bad. We then went over to Ceasarīs Palace, Dean had a not very good go at Roulette & then we planted ourselves at the Bellagio. I lost our gambling fund at Roulette but luckily John won it back at blackjack. I think we called it quits at about 3:30am...

11/03 - We went & did some present & souvenir shopping with Dean & then played some arcade games at Circus Circus before Dean had to leave. It was so good to see him & spend some time with someone we know. We sent down stairs to get Dean a cab, his car had not even left the car park & we ran into Zsofi, our Contiki tour leader & her new boyfriend John! It was such a shock. We chatted to them for a while but we had to go & get ready for our Cirque du Soleil show, "O" over at the Bellagio. The show was unbelievable. We were in the front row, we could almost touch the stage & we kept getting splashed when they hit the water! I do not know what to say about this show, we left saying what the hell was that but whatever it was it was amazing! Thanks for my birthday present mum :-)

12/03 - We had a huge sleep in, catching up on the last few days. We went over to the Rio casino which has a free show called "Show in the Sky". We got there pretty early so we found a poker machine with a good view & planted there for a few hours. The free drinks were flowing, it was great. The show was good, they had men & women singing & dancing on the stage but then they had these big floats with more dancers going around the ceiling of the Casino. The show was on every hour & was slightly different every time. It was good, the drinks kept coming, maybe a little too many. We had dinner at the buffet, it was huge, it was a carnival world buffet. It had everything you could possibly imagine. I ate more then John & funnily enough left there feeling very ill...

13/03 - Another huge sleep in. We went & hit the Adventure Dome which is inside Circus Circus. It was pretty crappy, one roller coaster, one spinney ride & one drop ride, that was about it! We went & chilled out in the room for a while & watched Marley & Me which just made us miss Zac soooo much more!!

Tonight we caught up with Zsofi & John, we went down to Freemont street. It was really fun, Freemont street is the original strip but it is enclosed & the roof has a giant LED screen that goes for about 3 blocks. Every hour they turn off all of the casino lights & put a show on the roof. It was really cool. There are bands playing all along the street & heaps of people, itīs a very lively place. We spent some time in a bar with a good view of the "strip" & funnily enough we moved onto a casino. It was great to catch up with Zsofi & John is a really nice guy. A good night was had by all & we got home at about 4am...

14/03 - You wouldnīt believe it, another sleep in! We are getting very used to this. We went for lunch at the Fashion Show mall, it is a lot bigger then we originally thought. We wandered through some casinos then we headed back over to the Rio, we hit the buffet again, this time not as hard! Played some pokies & then went to the Penn & Teller show. It wasnīt too bad, not the best show we have seen. They did some magic tricks & then showed us how they are done. I was expecting them to be a littler funnier but it was still good to see.

15/03 - The sleep ins are just the norm now though nothing actually happens in Vegas until the evenings so we are not missing out on anything. We went through Paris & the Venetian casinoīs & then went over to the Bellagio to watch the fountain shows. They are amazing, we stayed for 2 of those & then went back over to the Venetian for dinner, more pokies & the Wayne Brady show. It was fantastic, he was hilarious! His show is all improv & he is so unbelievably quick whited & clever. Both of us really enjoyed it, very, very funny!

16/03 - Last day in Vegas! We went back to the mall for some lunch & then we went down to the south end of the strip to see the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign. After lining up for photos there we went & checked out Hooterīs casino. We went back to the MGM Grand, this time with the camera & went back to visit the lions, we also had a look at the Flamingo casino. We went back to the Bellagio fountains for another look then over to the Mirage to watch the Volcano display, not as good as the fountains. We wet to Treasure Island for dinner, their buffet was not as good as the one at the Rio except for the desserts. Wow!

17/03 - Goodbye Las Vegas! We have really loved it here & it was especially nice to be planted for more then 2 days! Anyway off to Dallas, Texas...
