Took off from Arcata early this morning (well, not that early...).

(Just me and the road)
Drove north on 101 up to Grant's Pass, joined 5 North and booked my way up to Portland... What a great city, and I got to enjoy it for about an hour and a half while I crawled through it at rush hour. It actually wasn't that bad because I stopped off at Market of Choice (off Terwilliger by Lewis & Clark College--I knew I should have gone to school there. It's beautiful and isolated enough from Portland proper to make you feel like you're still in a small town, which is important to me since I'm a small-town girl *grin*).
Anyway, got myself a fabulous deli sandwich and continued on up the road to Everett, Washington "All-America City. World-class destination. Welcome to Everett!" (what a lofty slogan, for a town just outside of Seattle--I actually didn't even know that I had left Seattle until I got off the freeway... Oops). I can't believe I'm spending the night here, but all the campgrounds in the surrounding area are full, full, full (must be getting close to some big US holiday or somethin *chuckle*--stupid fourth of July!). By the way, I love Seattle almost as much as I love Portland--if I ever had to live in a big city, I'd choose Portland or Seattle for sure...
All right, I'm hitting the road early manana and crossing the border into Canada (I'm excited because I haven't been to Canada since my family took a road trip up to the San Juan Islands when I was like 9 years old) so it's bedtime for this crazy driving fool. Ciao...
