Flag of Chile  ,

The metro was piss easy to navigate from bus station to hostel, because Chile was spur of the moment I hadn't researched the accompdation options.. I chose the Happy House Hostel from the LP guidebook, 1100peso, it's very clean, new and has a great breakfast.. I think a hostel in the bellavista barrio would be better for bars but it's not too bad over here..

What's is there to do in Santiago? Not much, as the ski season is making a close most travellers just pound the streets people watching or are planning their next move in south america.. I've been here two days and feel like I've been here too long. The town has a smog problem, which is a shame because it obstructs some wonderful views if some really high mountain peaks up on the Andes.. Its strange because i didn't really notice the smog was there at first.. My favourite walk was round the previously mention bellavista district, it is a mural paradise.. many buildings are covered top to bottom and seem like it's encouraged and I got a little bit trigger happy with the camera, which I must slow down or risk turning this travel blog into a world graffiti log..

I've just got back from buying my ticket to the next town, 37,000 peso got me on a 'cama' bed-seat with Tur-Bus.. The town is Calama.. in the north and my access point to San Pedro de Atacama and the salt flats towards Bolivia.. It will take 22hrs but I really don't mind these long rides in Chile or Arg. because you're treated well and the seats are comfy enough to get some sleep..
