Copan has such a warm, pleasant and friendly character to it, I was lucky to have blue skies most of the week and the temperature was never too hot or too cold. After I left Utila I immediatly went in search of a camera to replace my waterlogged 'waterproof pentax'.. I spent a few hours waiting for la ceibas mall to open only to find it is small, crap and looks like it is trying to corner the cheap and tacky goods market, dissapointed and empty handed I whizzed up to San Pedro Sulas 'City Mall' which I knew had a great selection of everything.. I found a nice little Benq touchscreen one for cheap and bought it on the spot.. I wanted to make it to Copan that day but knew of a great little hostel, 'hostal tamarindo' where I could spend the night, freshen up and attacked that skating spot I found last time I was here..

In the morning I thought I might try to catch some local buses to the transport terminal, this balls'd up as I jumped on the bus that took a Uturn at the next junction and spent the next 30 minutes speeding through the mountain villages only to drop me 5 minutes away in centro.. Anyway I gave up my plan and got a taxi that overcharged me because I gave him a 100 lempira note and recirved 20 instead of 40 back, I told him he was a robber and shut the car door, a few steps later I thaught to myself 'I shoulda slammed the fucker on him'

So I reached copan after a relaxing ride with Sultana buses, cheap, clean and has a better drop off spot than the overpriced hedman alas.. My hostel I checked into was just one block up the hill and after dumping my bags set off to view the ruins.. They were nice and quaint, I took a whole heap of photos trying to make up for the ones I lost of Tikal, but IMO Tikal is the greatest Mayan ruins it hardly worked.. Still this time I spent a lot longer admiring the stone carvings that remind me of cartoon aliens..

After the ruins I thought there wasn't much to do, my recent run ins of where my crap Spanish had made things difficult convinced me to do a weeks intensive language course, in between that I managed to learn the finger placement for the bar chords thanks to my cool Israeli friend, elud.. Watched as a caged guacamaya parrot flies away into the trees because we (English Rob) accidently put him back on his rivals perch.. Also got drunk and had a interesting and stimulating conversation with Dragonfly 420... And had an extra long hike into the hills in search of forgotten Mayan treasures to no avail.

Listening to my iPod Bob Marleys Zimbabwe song seems to find itself alot on shuffle mode, and from what's going on right now I'd say he would feel pretty shamed that he was championing that promising leader turned brutal dictator.. Anyway the words ring true to me now for I wasn't around in the times that the song was originally realeased..

One Love..
