Where I stayed

i've got a something real good going in this realtionship with a local girl, she is a total sweetheart and is what has halted my progression around the world, but jamaican immigration gave me a grilling after a quick trip to miami last week and was told not to come back for a few months or do another of my many visa extensions so will defo be leaving for cuba in the new year.

The title and even the blog picture is a little misleading it might make you think I'm a little surfing ace, which i'm far frlm.. So here at Boston bay I was getting a beginner lesson with the local surfer/instructor Junior.. I don't know if it was luck or my many years of skateboarding but I managed to stand up on my first wave and ride it to shore.. I was given a little push into it so didn't really paddle myself though.. The lesson lasted an hour and got me a good adrenalin rush of the speed you pick up, it felt like dropping in off a half pipe skateboarding only wetter and for longer..

By the time the lesson was over my arms were knackered and considering i hardly paddled it shows my poor fitness and upper body strength up.. Anyway I'm hooked on the sport now and can't wait to get my own board.. I was staying at Great huts in Boston beach at the time, the place has a mellow vibe but for two people living in a hut is a little over budget for me at 70usd a night.. It has beutiful settings with its beach, rock pools and cliff top seating overlooking the surfers in the bay but it calls itself an eco resort when its more of a budget buildings resort.. You pay for the location and chilled atmosphere.. And is definatley on the recommendation list by me...

Before and after my likkle stint at Boston I stayed at my girlfriends sister place down in Buff Bay for a few nights, not only is it great for the travel budget but more importantly you get to 'do as the Romans do'.. One day the electricity and the running water were knocked out so a candlelit night ensued and when the morning came again the whole family went on a trip to the nearby river to bathe.. Then it was back home for hearty Caribbean dishes.. Another night a group of us went up into the blue mountains for a loud late night/early morning street party, it was cold up there but I had an advantage by keeping my girlfriend close and whining up on me most of the time..
