I boarded a 210 dollar coaster bus from ocho rios to kingston to meet up with yvan, the traveller from luxembourg, we were ment to meet on the thursday and go trekking in the blue mountains but i got a little delayed with my card problems and visa extension. Anywway the bus dropped me smacked bang in downtown, i was expecting to be dropped at the parade which is some big square with buses and taxis to all over, but my bus dropped me 200 meteres away so i had to navigate to find a route taxi out of downtown and up to new kkingston.. i walked 10metres out of the 200 and gave up and slumped into a charter taxi, which cost me 300 JD which is about 5 USD but got me comfortably and safely to my hotel.

that night was Yvans last night and we (actually just me) had a bit of a piss up, i also ran into another backpacker at the bar who is fresh from a stint in Mexico and is looking to travel here for the next month. The next morning my head was killing for some reason, me and Buster, the new backpacker from bristol, got on the bus to port royal which is the old pirate town from 300 years ago, We managed to attract a few hustlers waiting for the bus downtown, one guy followed us onto the bus and kept on begging for money from the only 2 white guys on there. he gave us a break walked up to the driver and back, which gave away his concealed machete which was poking 6 inches into thin air. Anyway, back when i was in St. Vincent i remember going to the set of 'pirates of the Caribbean' and walking around the Hollywood version of port royal. The town is obviously nothing like the set but you can get a little sense that it was home of debauchery, looted gold and the most famous pirates of the day.

Tonight is 'passa passa' night, a quick google will bring up a summary of the bacchanal that goes on in the troubled west Kingston area, apparently as pretty safe and fun and attracts some adventurous tourists that like to party..

Re: Shame ol lady - Grow your own TickleMe Plant
thanks for the link, they are one of my favourite plants too and would be a great gift to get kids to start care for the environment.. kris
