flying into the tiny airstrip of Les Cayes has a great view of the masstif mountains and workers in the cane fields, at first i was looking for a phone to use to arrange a pick up from the guesthouse i planned to stay at, so asked this police man if i could use a phone somewhere around here and he offered me his mobile to use, their phone wasn't working and hadn't been since the day before in PAP, but the policeman said he would sort it out and he knew the owners.. later i read the sign at the airport which in kreyol told me that 'tortuga air' gives free transport into town, great i thought if my g/house can't pick me up.. my enemies in the airport were hoping i didn't know and still came up to me asking if i wanted a taxi into town.. anyway the policeman had finished for the day and gave his workmates and me a lift into town, when he dropped me off at my destination he kept hovering around next to me.. the guesthouse owner said he was after a 10usd tip for the ride, i told her that the airline gave free lifts into town but paid him anyway as i'm sure it would have been cheaper than the taxi drivers..

the g/house is a whopping 50usd a night, on the leaflet it said 35 but apperently that is old.. before i heard the price i told her i'd be here for a week but when she asked me into her office i'd changed my mind a paid just for 2 nights.. which means the price hike has made her lose money rather than gain anything..

Les cayes seems like your average haitian town with it's bustling street market life and overcrowded tap taps racing through.. i haven't explored it totally as it hasn't stopped pissing down for the last two days, i did find a nice beach bar to hide from the rain for a couple of hours (i placed the map pin ontop the bar).. i was thinking of seeing Jeremie which is a beach side town 3hrs to the north or maybe ile de vache which is a 2hr boat crossing but sod it.. i think i've just come along way for nothing and there is FA of real interest for me here.. so tomorrow i leave for jacmel on one of these funkyily painted buses and i believe it'll take all day to get there.
