Because of the caricom wristbands that have been brought in the immigration don't want to stamp your passports, i love my stamps so had to beg the girl to stamp a S.Kitts and Nevis (Nevis is pronunced Neevis and not like Ben Nevis as i've been doing for the last few months) stamp in there.. i shouldn't have bothered as it now holds the title for ugliest stamp just beating brazils. The customs guy felt like wasting my time here, as i'm quite quick at filling out the immigration forms by knowing my passport number, date of issue and expiray and where it was issued off my heart i can get through the border crossings quite quickly, by this costums guy kept me waiting asking questions on all the different islands i'd been on and didn't even go through my backpack, he must had been lonely and needed someone to talk too i suppose. I bypassed the airport taxis once again with my smug face, and walked the 20 metees to the main road for the 3.50 EC bus.
I hadn't had anything booked as the cheapest place i could find was 'daniels deck guesthouse' for 38US and i was hoping there was something cheaper in town, after 20mins of searching i found out it was the cheapest so had to check into this overpriced G/H..
Whilst i was in Montserrats libary i came across a travel journal written by some english guy of his journey through the caribbean in 1850.. i'd loved to be able to go back in time to see the islands but as it's not possible i read through his booked to get a feeling. One thing he mentioned was that he stayed in a hotel on nevis near some hot springs that the wealthy and important people of the day bathed in close by. So after i got here my first stop was to check it out and it was still there in all it's colonial glory, the water was very hot and i also found out the temperature and content of it hasn't changed a bit since back then.
I am currently in the downtown internet cafe, the name is a bit is abit ambigous as there doesn't seem to be a downtown as the capital of charlestown just seems to be a medium sized village.
Last night i was at the beach bar called double deuce and seem to remember singing that 'bar bar bumba' song on kareoke which means i was pretty drunk again. i made friends with the owner where she recommened a cheaper guesthouse for 80ec all in just up the road at 'pricilla's'... which is where i'm heading now.
oh, and thanks alice for the donation of 24 pence to my travel fund, i promise not to spend it all at once!
