So i came from one small island to another.. i left Carriacou on the boat called Jasper, after a small delay because the battery was dead.. we set off to Union island. I took precausions this time with a sea sickness tablet and a can of ginger beer.. We arrived in a tiny hamlet called Ashton but had to go across the island to my weekly 'sign in' with immigration and customs in the main hamlet called Clifton..

My first impressions was "damn i left some sweet island to come to this place full of cruise boat tourists with their SLR camera dangling around thier necks and the street hustlers making an appearence".. this was due a rare cruise boat stopping by for the day and as i hadn't been pushed to buy weed from the locals for over a week i had about 4 offers in the first 5 minutes.. So i've been here a week and scratched the surface of local life.. i've found a nice liming spot across the road from my guesthouse, and have spent nights out at a little gangsta shack where everyone smokes weed openly and the girls, arbeit not very attractive ones, dance provocativly to the thumping dancehall... I did come here for a couple of days but instead will be staying longer again..

During my travels in the caribbean i've often been asked by local girls my age and then the next question is whether i've got any children, this week i had a girl come up to me and ask my age, i replied 26 and she looked shocked, i asked her hers and she replied 17 before running off.. Later in the day she went by again and this time plucked up the courage to ask my name, hers was apparently something like "larakeisha AKA HONEY" ..a lot of caribbean locals have got funny nicknames but i think she is trying to start her own one up before she gets a crappy one.. anyway she just can't hold a conversation and is really quite dull but seems to find me daily just to sit next to me and say nothing .. I also had a fright and a laugh with my liming partner Betty when i saw her coming home in her school uniform.. I was told it won't be long before a local guy will get her preggers..

I don't know why people seem surprised when i tell them my age, maybe it's because it's that bullshit thing people do when guesing ages and always take off a few years just to make the person think they are still looking youthfull, or in my case because i'm always wearing my visor which hides my receading hairline.. it seems that most, if not all the caribbean women that i've met along the way have got children by the time my age.. and they always wonder why i haven't got any children..

When i was back in St.George in Grenada i managed to lose my Nationwide debit card, i couldn't work out how i lost it, until yesterday when i went to the ATM with my back-up abbey card and walked away leaving it in the machine.. the thing is the machines over here dispence the money and the receipt way before the card pops out.. so yesterday when i was walking back to my guesthouse to put my card away safely i was stood in the middle of the road in disbelief that i couldn't find it anywhere in my pockets, i had the cash and the receipt but no card.. in england i've got used to the card coming out first which is the proper way it should be.. anyway as i turn round to see where i could have dropped it an american lady comes running up to me asking my surname.. luckily she'd been outside the booth waiting for me to finish at the ATM and she remembered me holding the door open for her to enter as i left, i was so relieved as if i'd lost my back-up card i would have been f___ed.. and would have probably had to go back to England to sort out the mess i'd made..

During the day here i've walked the whole island, hiked up to Fort Hill.. i wanted to do mount taboi, which is the highest peak but the path up is all overgrown and i would need a cutlass to bushwack my way through, and also the amount of this redish dodgy looking wasps are quite frightening and i'd hate to disturb a nest halfway up.. i've also hired a water-taxi to take me to a desert island called Mopion for the day, i was snorkelling alot and have got a pretty red back to pay for it and have kept out of the sun for 2 days now.. I'm hoping to get on a catamaran tour of the Tobago cays where they filmed the pirates of the caribbean for a day trip and snorkelling on the reef but can't until my back heels.. This friday i'm planning on getting on the 'mv barracuda which will take me up to the mainland of St.Vincent appaently it is the cheapest cruiseboat in the carribbean as we stop off at all the major grenadine islands along the way for about 40 or 50 EC..
