well i made it to a small island called Carriacou.. it's still part of Grenada and Union island which is part of the Grenadines, which makes up St. Vincent and the Grenadines, is teasingly visible from the main town of carriacou called Hillsborough.. So the last days on Grenada mainland i hired a car and met up with a friend from Trinidad and more or less spent most of the daytime sitting in the air-conditioned car whilst touring all over the island.. i think and she thinks that she's a vampire as she can't stand bright light and garlic and apparently had protuding fangs when she was a kid.. The rental guy was really safe, he dropped it at the airport, it was ridiculusly cheap, i paid for 2 days and when i went to return it he asked me when i'm leaviung the island, i say tommorow, so he said just leave it at the dockside when i board the boat and he'll pick it up from there, giving me an extra day at no extra cost..

So when she left me i was also ready to leave, because of my such short visa i feel i didn't really get to know grenadas mainland much, but i'm thinking (dreaming more like) of returning in a few years time as a yachtie, along with a goregous catamaran to while a way a winter.. but first i'll have to overcome my susceptibility to sea sickness.. i caught the osprey express, costing $75ec oneway, over to Carriacou last friday and thought i wouldn't need the travel tablets as it can't be that far and it goes pretty fast so i thought it wouldn't sway to much.. well after about half an hour and getting into open water, it became way too choppy for my liking so had to move from the roof deck downstairs, on the way down i slipped and my backpack with everything i own in the world flung itself onto the top rail, and if i'd lost my footing any more would have ended up at the bottom of the caribbean sea.. so i'm downstairs outside at the back as the seats inside of the boat have been taken up with people lying across the 4 seats in a row, and i didn't really want to be too near passengers anyway just in case i puke.. i keep on leaning round the front to see if i can see Carriacou but it still not visible yet meaning i'll have to endure a lot longer than i think i can hold it.. then some other guy comes down from topdeck and starts chundering over the back in front of me.. all i can do is keep my eyes on the horizon and away from that guy.. i think an hour later we finally arrive at the pier and luckily the last 5 minutes of the journey where pretty smooth so i could get my colour back and walk off casually and not like lighweight.. It is a short walk to where i'm staying, thereby bypassing the greedy taxi drivers and having a well earned rest before i unleash myself onto this new island..

neeto go back to geography class comrade, Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique which is the island you can see from Hillsborough are part of a tri island state and not part of st Vincent & the Grenadines which is another state. try jack iron when next in carriacou its reputed to be the strongest rum in the world, you cant get it anywhere else, the stuff they sell in Grenada is for kids

yeah, understood.. it's the poor grammar that i write in that makes it mis-leading, i was just to point out that carriacou is part of the island chain of grenadines but politicaly part of Grenada, the tri island state.. thanks for your comments, please go through the rest of the 50 odd country entries and check through please.
