Today we had the great fortune to drive along the most beautiful stretch of highway in the entire country: Highway 1. Our first stop was to see a group of Elephant Seals resting along the beach. We proceeded to stop a few more times to take pictures and soak in the magnificent views of the dramatic rocky California coastline. After a picturesque drive the night took a turn for the worst once we reached our hotel. I first noticed a few ants in the bathroom and Mark brushed me off like it was not a big deal. After dinner however, we realized the bathroom was completely infested and Mark agreed we should change rooms. The front desk upgraded us to a "cottage" with a kitchen. Naturally I thoroughly inspected the new room once we walked in and was furious to discover the kitchen was infested with ants! I was looking at alternative hotels to spend the night but Mark convinced me to look at one last room which was finally bug-free. I still can't believe we actually spent the night at this place, just hoping our next hotel will be better!
