Climbing sand dunes have never been high on our achievement list but the big one to climb was in Namibia and it's called Dune 45. I must say it was relatively easy compared to some that we have climbed in the passed. The one thing was that once we got to the top, the wind was so strong that it was blowing sand in our faces and it pleasant. We persevered with it for a while and admired the view which was amazing while standing up but then decided that we had eaten enough sand again....after the sand boarding, and made our way down.
We left Namibia and headed in South Africa which Neill was very excited about and made sure everyone knew it aswell. Have camped at a few nice spots on the way to Stellenbosch but the weather has been a bit unbearable. It got to 45c at one place and the only swimming pools that they had were thermal springs which was extremely hot. Even there shower's had no cold water - just hot. It was a day we wanted over and never to be repeated.
Stellenbosch is a lovely place and it was nice to arrive and go shopping, eat in a cafe and wander the streets. We went on a wine tour for a day around 4 wineries which were very impressive for both their wines and their views. Stellenbosch is set amongst rolling hills and beautiful scenery and the grounds of the wineries where top notch. We did pretty well throughout the day and managed to complete all 4 wineries considering the amount of wine we tried throughout the day.
We head off to Cape Town tomorrow where we are spending 3 days with our friends before joining the tour again and continuing up to Johannesburg.
