If you blinked at all while we drove through Mozambique you would miss it but if you didn't blink you saw some amazing scenery. We managed to get through customs on the Malawi  side rather easy but once we drove through no man's land and were trying to entry Mozambique it was a different story. Firstly it took 1/2 hr to get to the desk, then another 1/2hr to get served once the man decided to see our tour leader and then the whole process was repeated because we left out the address of the hotel on our forms as the name was good enough. When we finally got through, it was a dramatic change of scenery.
Very green, mud brick and straw huts, small villages dotted everywhere and even the people looked different. They were a lot darker in colour and their faces seemed more round as apposed to other nationalities. We bush camped underneath some power lines as a lot of places in Mozambique haven't been checked for land mines but where the power lines have been placed it's safe.
Next day we drove into Zimbabwe where we had to change a small amount of US$ into Zimbabwe dollars at the bank rate which at the moment is 250 for $1. Later that day our tour leader got a black market rate for us of 2,200 for $1. It's crazy but apparently you need a recipet from the banks for certain attractions and if your stopped by the police.
New Years Eve and the plastic bags with the costumes and names on each bag was handed out. Neill was dressed up as a bride and I must say he did look rather good - to the point that I wanted the dress he was wearing. It was a thick strap dress, knee length and it had a silver band across the waist. He even was given a vail and a bunch of flowers. I was dressed up as a clown and considering the clothes market we went to to by the clothes, my person did very well. A nice big floppy hat, a blue jump suit with a red double breasted jacket and a red and blue poker dot tie. Seeings as we were the only ones at the camp site we mad a mess and drank alot but hey it's New Years Eve and it was our first off in 5 years.
Today has been a bit of a struggle and we all felt it to be the longest truck drive day since we started. It was only 5 hrs but it just dragged on and on and it felt like Jason was driving over every pot hole on purpose.
Have arrived at Antelope Park and it's amazing. We are going to be walking with lions and holding baby cubs which are 4 months old over the next few days. Can't wait. All we need to do is try and work our which activities to do as there are so many.
