Today, we were up and out for an early walk.  We hiked up to the Rockpile and were treated to a beautiful view of Lake Moraine and The Ten Peaks.  The majority of the day was taken up by a 7 mile hike to Eiffel Lake.  Along the way we saw avalanches occuring on some of Ten Peaks, The Fay Glacier, snowboarders and lots of hikers!  We crossed several avalanche chutes which still had snow depths of 20 or more feet.  It's July 1st!  We stopped above Eiffel Lake for lunch/snack. We were at 7300 feet above sea level.  After the 6 hour hike we were exhaused!  We had a wonderful dinner at the lodge and were in bed and asleep before 9:00PM.  Oh by the way, this is a Grizzly Bear area!
