Dobry Den,

Life in Prague is already wonderful. We got here about 2 weeks ago and have already seen and learned so much about the city. The most important lesson I have learned so far is that you can never wear too many layers - it is absolutely freezing here, with icy cobblestone streets and almost-daily snow flurries. It's been hard to get used to but the nicer days where you actually see blue skies have been that much more incredible.
I'm living in an apartment with 4 other girls from the States, 3 of whom were here last semester so they're pros around here. Our apartment is really spacious and has a full kitchen (apparently very rare around here), and is in a great location. For the first two weeks we had our intensive Czech language class where we learned all the basics and necessary phrases to get around the city (dam si pivo = I'll have a beer). I got an A!
Everyday after school has been an adventure, because we just wander around the city, so I'm starting to learn my way around. The food here is also amazing, just about every meal centers around some sort of heavy (usually fried) meat. They also have goulash and soup with every meal, and beer is actually cheaper to order than water.
Being here is like living in a fairy tale because of all of the amazing architecture. On our walk to school we pass castles and churches dating back to the 1100s. We've seen the Charles Bridge and Hradcany Castle (probably the most famous and recognizable landmarks in Prague), a ton of old churches and cemeteries, the John Lennon wall, museums and art exhibits (my favorite was Dali's), and so much more.
Our real classes start tonight, my first one is Experiments in Czech Film, it's supposed to be a great course so I'm excited. I will try to load pictures as soon as I can!
