I got into Prague, put my stuff down and headed straight for the old town square.  What a sight!  Imagine getting off a tram in the center of a metropolitan city and walking a few blocks to find yourself smack dab in the middle of an old world city.  The most impressive thing in the town square is the astronomical clock that takes over the area.  At the top of each hour the whole thing moves and chimes and trumpeteers come out, its pretty impressive.

From there I crossed the Charles Bridge and ascended the hill to the largest midevil castle in all of Europe.  It was extensive.  I have to say that I did not go in it but walked around the grounds and that alone was overwhelming.  I did however go into the church that is on the grounds (becasue that was free), they started construction in the 1300's and finished in 1903  thats a long time to live around counstruction.

That night I went on a pub crawl which lasted until 7:30 in the morning.  So, Absynthe is real.  It looks like NyQuil and tastes like...well...crap.  The next day I really didn't do much, bought some postcards, booked accomidations for other nights, and got over a bit of a hangover.

The next morning I went on a guided tour of Prague and learned all about the interesting history that it has to offer.  Did you know that garnets from all around the world are mined here?  Also it is true that Prague is really where WW2 started in 1938 not in 1939.  Interesting factoids that I have learned that I will be bugging you with in the near future.

So thats my trip to Prague in a nutshell.  I had a really great time, met some people, saw some things, ate some food, had a great time.  It really is a magical city that has really touched me in a different way.

I'm off to Krakow, Poland in a few hours to take the overnight train from here.

Love
Dina
