I got into Ghent around 3 o'clock from Brussels, its a whole 45 minutes away by train. I took the tram to the center of town and followed the signs to the castle. Yep, a castle! I stayed right next to the castle in the center of town. Pretty damn cool.
I checked in and walked around town. It is official, Venice is not the only canal city. This is the second one that I have been to outside of Italy.
I walked around and saw a bunch of really large buildings surrounding canals. I could list a series of buildings but I'll spare you. I will say however that the map boasts "the most beautiful building" and "the most beautiful tree!" If you ask me it seems like they are grasping at straws for things to put on a map.
At the end of the day, it was a great sleepy town and a great way to spend the evening!
In the morning, I saw the rest of Ghent which didnt take all that long and then made my way to Brugge.
