Lixian has been treating us well- amazing students, hiking, temples, and as always good Chinese food!

So far we've been teaching here for two weeks so it’s already half over. We only have two more weeks of teaching then it’s off to travel and lay on the beach!  We have great students who have been taking us out to eat and visit some temples around the area.  Our students are so smart here and they are hilarious to talk to.  They know so much about American culture and ask questions that completely shock me.  Sometimes I feel like they know more about America then I do!  On Sundays our students take us out to lunch at really nice restaurants then we either bike or drive to a mountain and hike to the top where the temples are located.  Last week we got our fortunes read by one of the Buddhist monks.  To do this you draw a stick from a can… there’s a hundred sticks total and they’re all labeled with a number.  I pulled number one, which is the same fortune that Chairman Mao received, so they were all very excited.  I’m not really sure what my fortune was since it was read in Chinese, but the students said it was "the best!" haha.

This weekend were planning a trip to Zheng Jia Jie, which is supposed to be the most beautiful city in our province.  There’s a huge national park with hiking, waterfalls, rafting, and all that so it should be a great trip.

Other then that, things are going great.  We’ve been having a good time teaching here but are even more excited for the long vacation afterwards… miss everyone at home!

Love, Kori
