Before going back to the states for Chinese New Year, we had a week vacation while our students took finals.  Adam and I flew out to Shanghai to meet his dad and a nurse that he works with.  Adam's dad went to Vietnam for a medical mission and had a layover in Shanghai before going back home.  We stayed at the Marriott which was located in the middle of the city (a nice change from our town! We were in heaven).  The city is completely filled with business high rises.  I've never seen anything like it.  They also having the tallest (or maybe second tallest now) building in the world, The Shanghai Financial Center.  We had drinks up there, and went to dinner in a couple other high rises where you could view the entire city.  We also did some sightseeing tours around town- the Buddhist temple, tea tasting, old Chinese gardens, and the old French Concessions.  Shanghai is definitely the most modern/clean city in china but very expensive and entirely business oriented.
