What I did
In late February, a bunch of us grabbed a delicious Indian dinner and then headed to the Abdi Ipeckci Arena to take in a fantastic show: Cirque de Soliel. We will definitely do it again if we have the chance!
In April, we had a surprise visit from Nick, one of our Hanoi cronies. He popped into town for a few days on a cheap flight from Tbilisi and was able to join us for our pub quiz, which he'd missed the last time around. His last day in town was the first day another Hanoi friend, Louise, was here for an Easter visit.
We took both of them to Emirgan Park for the annual tulip festival. It was still a bit chilly, but the sun was out in full force, providing us with a lovely afternoon wandering around the flower beds.
Nick left that evening, but we had Louise for the next four days. We did our best to entertain her, spending Saturday on a cruise to Anadolu Kavagi, Sunday watching the sunset in Kadikoy, and Monday and Tuesday evening out and about around town.
The back-to-back visits tired us out, but of course there was no rest for the weary -- Friday was our eight year anniversary, and we certainly couldn't let that go by without celebrating in some fashion! It was actually a very leisurely day, spent enjoying delicious food around town and planning our upcoming holidays.
The following night was a big "Easter egg hunt" event organized by one of the expats in town. She hid "eggs" around at different bars near our house and our teams had to go and find them. When we opened the "egg", it had a task inside that we had to complete (photo evidence required). It was something fun and different, and we made a few new friends in the process -- an Easter success!
Our busy spring didn't stop there: we were due to fly to Pamukkale the following Friday for a much needed mini-holiday, followed by another trip in May to Roma. We were keeping ourselves busy to be sure!
