Old Live Journal 3!:

"The flight to Oslo was 3 hours long in the normal Ryanair, no leg room, style. We didn't land till 7ish and in Norway it gets dark around 3. I also discovered that the airport that Ryanair lands in is 2 hours away from the city. Due to that I had another long trip. On the bus I met 2 people who were speaking English. It was a guy and girl who were studying in Spain, who were from New York and California. We ended up finding out that they were going to the same hostel as me and that we were all starving. We shared a cab from the bus station to the hostel, which we didnt need to do. It ended up being close but it was dark and I was tired. We then got food. I finally had a good burger, not a crappy English one. Anyways, these two were my entertainment cause they were the biggest yuppie travelers ever. The guy had never stayed in a hostel before and so when we came into our room it was 6 beds and one bathroom and he said 'We are suposed to share a bathroom between 6 people?' I said something along the lines of 'Be happy it's not a bathroom down the hall which we share with everyone.' They were also amazed that I only had a backpack for my month of traveling, where as they had one week of traveling and had two suitcases each. They were going to catch a train to Stockholm in the morning and asked the guy at the desk in the hostel where the trainstation was, a valid question, he pointed it out and then the girl asks 'is that were the trains to Stockholm leave from' the guy at the desk gave a suprised look and said 'unless they have a hidden station in the city, yes' that made me laugh. That first night was rough. There was this creepy French guy who was constantly drinking a beer all night, an old guy who spoke slow English and then the yuppies. Also, three of the five people in there snored. I got little sleep. I got up the next day and walked Oslo.

Oslo is pretty spread out but I made due and got around. It was also about 23 degrees F. I was very cold. I went to the museum, the art gallery where the famous 'Scream' painting is. Saw their palace and then went to a park that was on the far west side of town. This park was beautiful. It had a frozen lake and a cemetary and wierd naked statues. I had a lot of fun there. I continued to wander till it started to get dark. I headed back to the hostel. Hoping new people would be in my room and see if they wanted to get food. No one was in my room unfortunately. So I went to a Japanese place by myself. Eating alone is so uncomfortable. You just sit there while people talk around you. At least in Norway I could look at the beautiful women. I then went to a pub and talked to some Norway folk for a bit. Then I went back to the hostel, where there still was no one in my room. It stayed that way for the next two nights so at night it was nice, but it sucked cause I didn't meet anyone really. The next day I got up late wandered a little but had seen most of the city the day before so I relaxed for the most part. I also had to get up at 4am the next day to catch the bus to the airport."
