Wish you were here!
Sunday x2.
We set off at 4.30 am, and flew to Auckland.
Unfortunately one of our bags were over weight, so we had to
repack at the check in counter. We chose the heavier items to repack into our
carry on luggage. Such as cans of veges and coffee and milk. (We took a full suitcase
of food with us as we heard it is really expensive here.) However we soon realized we had made a
mistake as the can veges are in a liquid solution, and of course the
coffee and milk is another liquid!!
So they were dully confiscated!!
Also the check in chic had made an error with our seats. We
had been placed a row apart on the international flight! So instead of sending
each other notes over the row, we were lucky enough to find an Air NZ hostess,
who was kind enough to place us in another row, with adjoining seats! Phew!! In
fact we had the whole row to ourselves!! Wicked!!
Finally arrived at 4pm local time, which meant winding
the clock back 22 hours! So we went from Monday ,back in time to Sunday, effectively
re living Sunday all over again!! Kind of strange but true.
Then after exiting our flight we went straight to the duty
free, where we scored some vodka and Baileys, and 2 bottles of wine. Oh and a 6 pack of Heineken,
for good luck. Unfortunately as we proceeded through customs etc we discovered
that the beer had pushed us over the limit. A $5 fine was imposed upon us!!!
LOL, it’s still dam cheap!!
Well it turns out that that was the only cheap thing here,
as we went to the store to get bread and milk. Every thing is $5. Bread, and 1
litre of milk. Soft drink 1 litre. OOH except for eggs which are $7 a doz.!!
Just as well we brought lots of food, in fact a whole
suitcase full!!
Happily we made ourselves at home in our little house by the
sea, not that it has the best beach in the island> I’m sure we can live with
that!!
In the morning we were woken by the gardener who starts at 7
am! However we still managed to sleep in.
The sun rise is awesome as it comes straight into our
kitchen,we had to wear our sunnies to see!!
We are now planning our next adventure which probably
includes some scooters I think!!
So Watch this space…….
Neil (whose your daddy)!!!
