A good early awakening ,thanks to
the early sunrises here. Fortunatley over night the main front moved off
shore,and left a brief  dry spell. 233mm
of rain had fallen here over the past 48 hours.

As planned we headed off to the
Buderim  ginger factory ,which has moved
from Buderim to Yandina some 50 km further north. On the way we saw some
flooded rivers, paddock and roads as well.

We arrived  at 10.30,by then it had started raining
again, only this time not heavy. We found a well stocked shop and a ticket booth
for tours which we declined. A very intensive range of every thing ginger, from
ginger beer to ginger bubble bath!! Once we had picked our way through there we
had to go to the loo. Well there was a lot more to this place than a shop, and
icecream parlor!!

They had a train going around
there gardens and factory,as well as 3 more shops ,one of which was very
interesting, all about cars!!! There I found 3 more mystery  cars ,LOL!! Naturally there was a lot more
stuff to purchase, but dam you should of seen what we left behind!! Kombi t
shiets, kombi lamps ,kombi night lights,A corvette c3 model (which is quite
unusual,as c1 and c2 are a lot more common in model forms).infact there were
thousands of products here including a corvette parking only sign!!

Out side all this time was an old
train with passenger carridges, taking adults and children for rides aroung the
factory. It was a black steam engine, that made a lot of noise. We didn’t go
for a ride as it was raining.

Suddenly we noticed our wallet
was getting lighter and our luggage was getting heavier! Time to move on,it was
noon already!!!

Rather than go back early ,we
decided to check out  walking  track int the hinterland some 60km away.So we
headed off to Maple town, via some kfc at Nambour!

Well it was still raining but we
thought that a walk in the national park here to see a waterfall would be worth
it.Stranglet the car park was deserted, but as the weather was looking like
clearing we went to do a quick recce of the track. Funny thing is the is orange
mesh across the track with a sign,do not enter!! Probably something to do with
the flooded river we could see just around the corner!

We decided to check  out the rest of the joint while we were there.
Ooh A good sturdy looking viewing platform over looking a water fall. Well that
saves a walk, lol!! As you can see by the pics there was quite a view! As other
peeps arrived I we were prepared to run fo our lives  if any one started jumping up and down.Fortunatley
nothing like that happened and we all survived our brief stroll out over the
massive cliff below, thanks to a well constructed deck.

With photos taken there was
nothing else to keep us there,so we went back 20 km to Mapletown, where we
spotted another mystery car from the 60s! Finding mystery cars is like a full
time job as mostly the cars here are less than ten years old. However they are
there if you look hard enough. Up to 9 kombis on our spotto  game,so far.Corvettes here are
probabally  locked up out of the rain.

We managed to get a little lost
on our way back, but recovered when we had seen the sunshine plaza,to get our
bearings,lol!

Imagine our surprise, when
relaxing after dinner, around 8pm, an annoying soft  nose started in our unit, after a while we
thought maybe it was a fire alarm, looked out of our unit, saw fire engine
arriving and thought a bit harder about getting out. We seemed to be the only
ones almost, a few people wandered out then came an announcement over the sound
system to evacuate- worst evacuation I have ever seen- guess we get good at
these things in Chch! The firemen had a look around but seemed a false alarm. Hope
it wasn’t the steam from my shower as happened about a minute after I opened
the bathroom door!! Sensor is straight opposite- there is a $800 charge for
false alarm
