Well our luggage arrived four days after we did.  We even had to go and get it from the airport as Auckland airport didn't have a contract with the central american airline that was responsible for losing it!  Oh well at least we didn't have to replace everything, we already know how crap our insurance is and we'd have gotten bugger all from them!

Whilst we were in Auckland we explored the shops and local pubs, i managed to leave my credit card behind in the Shakespear pub and only realissed the following morning when I needed to buy more phone cards! fortunately they had it in a safe place.  I think if that had gone, it would've been the final straw for Robert and we'd have been back home!

We checked out the local stores and priced up car/campervan hire.  It was way too expensive.  we were looking at in excess of $6000 for just over 5 months!  We decided to buy a car that we could then sell when we're done.  Given that we would be selling at the end of the summer season, and that we would be using it a lot and that Robert is a car snob and wouldn't be seen dead in any old junk, we deceided to spend $5500 on our new family member, a Toyota people mover.  it's great as if necessary we can sleep in it and there's loads of space for our backpacks and scuba gear.  Robert is well chuffed, we got it at Ellerslie car sales.  it's a big bring and buy car sale, great!

We met up with Sarah and Alan for a meal in the city.  it was great.  I took over from Sarah at Provident when she left to immigrate to NZ, then I followed in her footsteps! My boss, Jason couldn't believe his luck! (sorry Jase).  Alan and Robert got on really well as did Sarah and I and they very kindly offered for us to stay with them for a few days (which turned into just over a week!)

Sarah and Alan have a fab house up in the hills of Waitakere, just West of Auckland and we were really pleased to be staying in a home again.  We went out during the days, usually car hunting of somekind! and all had dinner together and watched TV or a movie or just talked... Bliss!

We, (me, Robert, Sarah and Alan) went for a meal where we met Matthew who had been brilliant in looking after our scuba gear for a couple months until we got to NZ.  He's a diving instructor and said he'll do me my Navigation course when I'm next through Auckland (should be around the end of january).

One Sunday afternoon the four of us went to the theater to see "We will Rock you" the queen show, it was really good and they used the queen songs well and with humour to tell a story.  it was really good.

Sarah and Alan lent us loads of camping equipment, plates, gas stove etc. and bought us a NZ road map.  We had a fairly emptional fairwell with promises to stay in touch. We did some last minute shopping at Lynn Hall and hit the road!
