Considering that both Kevin and I work in the oil industry, it is surprising that neither of us had ever visited Aberdeen before this past week. I had a course in Aberdeen, so Kevin and I decided to make a trip out of it and visit our friend Alex on the weekend.
We were warned that Aberdeen is a very grey town. grey skies and grey granite buildings, but we were pleasantly surprised with a clear blue sky on Saturday. We had a great time on the weekend visiting with friends and spending time wondering around the shops on Union Street. On Sunday we visited the Maritime Museum which was surprisingly good, especially considering that the entrance was free. Two things that made the trip even better was Starbucks coffee and Aveda salons.
During the week I was busy with my course and Kevin spent the days wondering around town and also made an overnight trip to Edinburgh to visit his cousin Maeve. In the evenings we met up with friends for dinner.
After not being in an English speaking country since April, I found it strange to walk down the street and understand the conversations around me!
