Guten Tag! A sister of one of our middle school teachers, Senora Rodgers, agreed to skype with us. She lives in Villach, Austria. Villach is a small village located in southern Austria and is about a ½ hour drive from the Italian border. In fact, when they want "real" pizza or cappuccino, Mrs. Grace said she and her husband just drive to Italy for dinner. Villach is about 4,000 miles from Kennesaw and is 6 hours ahead time wise. They were getting ready to go out and eat dinner while we had not yet eaten lunch! Mrs. Grace said that life is much quieter in Austria than in the United States. It is nearly fall there and the temperatures are dropping. Nights will be around 40 degrees Fahrenheit while it may get up into the 70s during the day. It is quite normal for them to receive a lot of snow there! When a students asked if most people owned cars, we were told that although most people do have cars, teenagers tend to travel by moped since it is cheaper. Although Mrs. Grace is very happy living in Austria, she missing many aspects of the United States. Holidays are difficult for her since she does get to spend them with her family. She does get together with a group of people who are Americans living in Austria and they celebrate traditional American holidays such as Thanksgiving and the Fourth of July. Auf Wiedersehen! (Which means Until Seen Again!)
