Where I stayed
OK, so as you know thus far....I went to London. I arrived safely in London at 8:45 a.m. as promised. I then spent the remaining hours in the airport looking around and resting. Unfortunately, I did not sleep at all on the plane :(
Anyway, I left London and arrived in Madrid around 7:30 last night. However, guess what wasn't there???? Yep, my bags! I had no clothes, because at last second I switched things around due to weight---no spare clothes in carry on. So, I was very frustrated at this point. The language barrier broke me down last night; I was so exhausted.
I then fought my way through the subway (at rush hour or something bad like that) before arriving at the hotel. The metro ride was about 40 minutes. I arrived in the hotel just in time to have dinner with my group. Talk about timing. I was ready to literally fall over.
So, needless to say, I slept sound last night. I got about 7 hours before having to get up and leave this morning. Today, we went on a tour of Madrid. We traveled to some pretty cool places--hence the later blog. I hope to post some pictures. My favorite part of the your was The Royal Palace of Spain. It only had 2,800 rooms.... :) Yeah, it was pretty amazing. Unfortunately, no pictures of the inside were allowed, but I will try to find some online to just give you a taste of it.
Anyway, after the palace we were free. We were all starving, and we tried to find some good food at the local cafes...yeah, that wasn't working. We were all also very tired and didn't want to walk anymore. Last resort---McDonald's it was! I actually was able to order everything I want in Spanish except for my salad dressing. It got somewhat messed up, but other than that it was good.
This city is amazing and beautiful. I love it! Every apartment has it's own balcony, of course, made out of steel and with the flowers growing on them....adorable. (For the girls---heart!) HA HA
So, I managed to get an hour nap then go to a meeting for my apartment. I have a "correct" address now. I think it's the same, except the town changed---not physically, just in the address. I also have a cell phone. I can get all incoming calls free. So, if anyone decides they want to call me---you can :) It will costs a small connection fee--but it's not bad at all! Yay. I will try to remember to give you that address and phone number in the next blog as well.
Oh, yes my luggage---I JUST got it. So that was over 24 hours in Madrid with nothing!!! It was not fun...
All my love to everyone. Thanks for reading about my adventures. I am sure it will only get more interesting.
PS-Now that I got some rest--and clean clothes--I feel better----------MOM!
