Actually, That's not really true, its not true at all. It is a nasty day outside. its blowing about 30-40MPH and pouring down rain. Its not a typically great combination and leaving the boat does not seem like that appealing an idea. But then again spending all day on a 28 foot boat when I have the ability to walk around does not seem that appealing either. So I decided to brave the storm and head to the Monterey Crepe Company. They make delicious crepes!! YUM!
We are going to try to get out of here tomorrow afternoon. We will catch the tail end of the storm that is blowing through right now, but if we don't leave there is another storm coming up on its heals that we will hit dead on. So hopefully if we leave Wednesday afternoon we will miss most of the weather for the current storm and just miss the weather for the upcoming storm! Then we will be in San Diego. It better be warm there is all I have to say. I'm totally ready for some warm weather and warm water! Monterey is really pretty and been a nice place to stop (getting to tie up at the dock doesn't hurt either! plus the benifit of showers and laundry!) but its been so cold here. Today is the first day since i've been on this trip (since August 21st) that we have had rain though!
Here in Monterey we went on a self guided tour of the historic Monterey. It didn't take too long but it was fun to get to see some of the historic aspect of the country that I hadn't seen before. We also did some of the touristy things as well. We went and walked down Cannery row- which the history of it just amazes me sardines just aren't my thing. but it was fun. We also walked down the fisherman's wharf- that was cool plus there was a bar with $2.99 margaritas all day every day. it doesn't get much better than that!! We have a friend here, Josh McLean who is in the Navy and he took us over to Caramel the other day. That was fun it was a cool little town!! Finally some good shopping for me, but since I was with two boys I really didn't get to shop much. But still it was fun to get out a bit!
Well Wish us luck on our next passage. This is the longest one that I have done so far and nearly the longest passage the boat has done. it is 400 miles from Monterey to San Diego and I don't think we will be stopping - provided we get decent winds it should take us around 4 days. I hope Mr. Roboto is up for the challenge (knock on wood)!
