As we set off hitching on Wednesday we assured ourselves that it would all be fine as long as we stayed outside of London.  When we found ourselves buying train tickets from London Victoria to the ferry at Portsmouth we realised things hadn't gone quite to plan.  Spud managed to chivvy me up enough to have another go the next day in Northern France but our rose tinted memories of hitching from 2005 were brought crashing back down to earth once more when 10 hours later we were sucked into another European capital city.

We spent a welcome, if unexpected and expensive, night in Paris before biting the bullet, waking up to the benefits of modern, 21st century transport and flying to Barcelona. 

Our conclusions so far, hitching is pure luck and much easier when wearing a charity t-shirt and its probably a lot less hassle to fly.  French men are rather pervy when slowing down to pretend to be offering you a lift.  2 sandwiches and a bag of apples is not enough food for 2 people for 2 days.

ah well the whole point of travelling is the surprises right?! you got there anyway - the adventure is truly underway! william is very sad you've gone and he kept us awake all night last night in protest - soooooo tired today zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Ahhh you guys, at least you made it to the right airport to fly to Barcelona! Barcelona is just love-er-ley, ah happy drunken student memories!! Thinking of you - whilst having a little chuckle at Matt's trendy t-shirt in your pics from Leeds. xx
