On Sunday we decided to go to the Blarney Castle. We took the bus but this time we gave ourselves enough time to get to the station. I didn't know much about the Blarney Castle, besides kissing the stone. The Castle is in a very cool park along a river amongst other things. We started toward the castle and saw caves. The caves go underneath the castle which was very cool. We then made our way to the castle passing other various old stone structures. The stairway to the castle was very narrow and spiral. I had no problem walking up it but others I was with were not fans. The stairs were small and there was a rope for a railing. Going up to the top there were rooms to go into. One of the rooms was a kitchen. The views from the top were really cool and you could see for miles. I kissed the stone, although it wasn't what I expected. You lay on your back and the grab the metal bars. An old man holds you and guides you down the wall. Being tall made it easy for me because my lower body was still on the ground, but for the short people their lower body was off the ground and they were being held up by the old man. After we all kissed the stone we went to the Blarney House, which is a giant mansion just behind the castle. It was closed for the winter but we still looked around. Our next stop was the wishing steps, which are believed to bring good luck, the only problem is you have to walk up them backwards with your eyes closed. It was pretty tough when I got to the top because I was the first to go. We walked around the area which is known as the witches den. After exploring the castle and the rest of the park we went to a pub to relax and get a drink before the bus. This weekend was great and I'm looking forward to the next.
