A bientot !

Hi Everyone !

Here we are in Rio de Janeiro after a long 25 hours bus trip next to the stinky toilets !

Unfortunately Rio is rainy so it will be hard to go swimming at Copacabana or Ipanema Beach but we visited most of this big city anyway

Cristo the redeemer of course ! The sugar loaf (a big Hill) that gives you a nice view of the city and a beautiful sunset. We visited the artistic area of Santa Teresa and Lapa with its multicolour steps, the botanical garden, the really weird and gigantic cathedral where the pope comes regularly. And we visited Rio's Favela (shanty town) the biggest in south Brasil, it’s a small city into the city where there are no rules, the inhabitants do what ever they want without asking the city of Rio. So people build their own houses on the top of other peoples houses and they have to do the electicity and the water connexions themselves. Le streets are about 1m wild so everything they have to carry home has to be carried on their back and so on ( see photos)

And of course we have visited the bars of the city and drank the famous Capirinhas, it’s a killer Armoni’s stomack still remembers.

We have met Alex, Jess, Izzy  and others (English) and we made friends with them.

The Hostel was quite nice if you forget about the cold showers and the Beatles in the kitchen.  But it looks like Beatles are common here so we better get used to them ;)

Finally after a few days we went to the beach as it was very hot and sunny, Ipanema Beach is very nice especially when you have a coconut in your hand.

It’s time for us to move on, next stop is Ilha Grande, a big island about 4 hours away from Rio

Speak soon !

Hey guys,
I'm very belatedly catching up on your blog as I wait for a plane which has been delayed an hour. I flew to Melbs for 24 hours for mum's b'day. It was a really nice day, wish you both were there. We went to Hobson's choice for breakfast, bet you're sad you missed that one!
First of all, I'm very jealous. Your trip looks AMAZING so far! Iguazu falls, wow! Second of all, the guy who found your camera is hot. Did you get his number?
Lots of love from Kim
