St Petersburg has this glitz and glamour about it. It is truly quite amazing. The money that was once in this place to built all of the incredible castles and cathedrals just because they could is mind blowing. It looks like gold coats almost every statue or gate or door frame.
On our first day in St Petersburg we went to Petergof and Pushkin. Truly amazing the design of the buildings.
Our second day was spent wandering around the city streets.
We visited the Blockage Museum which is dedicated solely to the Siege of Leningrad (former name for St Petersburg). During World War 2 when Germany was trying to capture St Petersburg they put a barrier around the city so not food could enter in during this time. This happened for 900 days and through two winters. Many people died of starvation during this time.
We visited the Bronze Horseman, the Church of our savior on Spilled blood and St Isaac's Cathedral. Again stunning!

It's so weird during the night as well as it only gets dark at about 2-2.30am and is light again at 4am. Pretty hard to sleep as well!
