. Left there and travelled to the Hoover Dam, took a while and the sun starting to get low in the sky, around 5pm we parked at the Dam after a brief search of the car before driving over the bridge, wandered around and took some pics, amazing place (unfortunately we were to late for tours etc something I was hoping to do), left there 6.30pm and on through Boulder City into Las Vegas, came over the hill and got a spectacular view of Vegas sea of lights, had Burger King at the Southern end of the Strip and worked out our plan of attack (joking about us Country Bumpkins in Las Vegas) made our way to MGM Grand Hotel and parked the car, they wouldn't take any walk ins on a Sunday night whatever that means so back to the car and got hauled over the coals for leaving the car in the wrong place unattended (bomb scares ??) hatched a new plan and got out of the place, down the Strip (which is just out of this world) and around the back to the Hilton, Don checked in this time I stayed with the car and had to move it as I was abused by a Taxi Driver …. Don had parked in the Thru Taxi Lane grrrr. Don came back we parked the car … by this time it was 9pm and we took our bags up to the room and had a few good STIFF drinks !!! Into bed 10.30pm.
Up and away by 9.30am, back into the Historic Town of Williams, I found a Quilt shop Briar and I had a peek and came out with some goodies, looked through the Route 66 souvenir shops and another Western Apparel Store, left Williams at 10.30am and headed for Seligman the home of Radiator Springs off the movie CARS, on Historic Route 66. Spent a good hour and a half poking around all the memorabilia and made a few purchases, had the run down on all the famous points about Seligmans and heard that Billy Conelly has just made a series on Route 66 on his bike …. will definitely get that when it comes out……got our little passport books to have stamped at the Route 66 towns. Left around 1pm and continued onto Hackberry, a tiny place with the one store/museum on Route 66, scratched around the relics and made some more purchases, Don getting some cool stuff for the car shed, kids and I sat out in the cool and had an ice cream …. still so hot and dry while he had a good look around. By this time it was around 3.30pm so we got on the road again and reached Kingman, found the Historic info centre in the old town (quite a distance from the new town) and found out where the old car yard was, drove out towards Oatman and had a look but it was closed, Don got some details and peered through the fence not a lot of cars but these ones in better nick
