The train ride from Oslo towards Bergen has been rated one of the top ten most beautiful train rides in the entire world
. Unfortunately I didn't get a window seat but I tried to take some photos. It's every bit as beautiful as I was hoping. Mountains, trees, lakes, rivers, bridges, tunnels, sheep, cute little red houses. The whore sitting next to me and who has the window view is being a window nazi. She actually closed the shade!!! On the most amazing train ride in Europe!! So I opened it. Now she's constantly trying to get in the way when I take pictures. So now I keep leaning over her. I will win. Yes I will. I can't believe she's not even interested in looking out of the window. She's nuts...and a window nazi. Grrrrr!!!!!
I officially hate this woman next to me. When she yawns (which is often) the immediate area reeks like garbage for about 5 minutes. I'm ready to pour purell on her. Only 1/2 hour left and I can get away from her and get back to happy.
The train to Flam was waiting when I arrived in Myrdal. This next train ride was from the top of the mountain down to the Fjord. Lots of tunnels and great views of waterfalls. Next we boarded the fairy. The tour was about 2 hours long and breathtaking! Norway is just drop dead beautiful. It looks almost like a movie set it's so perfect in some places with little sheep scattered about. For sure worth the early morning stress and window nazi snafus!
After the tour a bus took the group to Voss - Another small town. From there we boarded another train to Bergen. I'll have a couple of hours to roam around before catching the night train. By tomorrow afternoon I'll be back in Copenhagen ready to explore more of the city.
Left the hostel in a hurry this morning to catch the train to Myrdal. I realized I was out of cash so I ran around searching for an ATM. ALL of them were out of service of course. Can't get on a tram or bus with a credit card. So I started walking hoping to catch a cab. Flagged about 6 cabs and none of them stopped. I couldn't figure out what the shit was going on. Ended up briskly walking to the central station and ran to the info office to validate my ticket. Hopped on the train with 4 minutes to spare. Drenched in sweat and starving I was ecstatic to have my ass in a seat!! If I would have missed this train my tour would have to be postponed a whole day which in this expensive as hell country is not one of my favorite options. Update: if I would have missed the train I would have really screwed myself. Turns out that today was the last day to take this tour for the year! Lucky!
