Where I stayed

We flew back to Bangkok early in the am and arrived back at Sam Sen Sam Place by 10:30...lots of the day still left. It felt good to arrive at a familiar place where you knew what to expect.

It was amusing that our bed here that felt so very hard on our first night away from Canada now felt oh so soft!! Perhaps all our stays on beds seemingly made from concrete has toughened up our soft Western hides! The place is so spotlessly clean. Truly, the cleanest bathroom I have seen in all of Thailand!!

It was a day of shopping. First we located the Harley Davidson Dealership which made Rob very happy. This was a "must" for him. They make a wicked hamburger at the Harley cafe there :o). Afterwards we checked out the MBK shopping mall as reccomended by Woodstock and Uli. What a Zoo!! Escaltors criss crossing all akimbo: Up, up, up and up. Crowds of people everywhere and then multiplied over and over by mirrored surfaces everywhere. I didn't make even one small purchase while we explored the vast multitude of shops. It simply was a merchandise and sensory overload and I basically spent most of my time trying to keep my jaw hinged. Quite an experience...can't really say a fun one, but definately an interesting journey of the senses!!

Our last evening in Bangkok, and sadly Thailand too. Both of us were sorry to see our holiday coming to an end. You wait so long for the time to arrive, then it whips by in a frenzy of excitement and suddenly it's all over. Sigh.

But we still had one final evening and what better place to explore than Khao San Road! I loved it there. Lights everywhere, vendors everywhere, a literal feast of people everywhere....totally great. We strolled through the crowds, did a bit of shopping, stopped for dinner at a pub with a Thai fellow playing and singing some incredible blues. Rob, the stronger stomach of the both of us was very daring and ate up a crunchy, chewy big black scorpian!! Ewww!! Not me...not in a million years!!

I loved the day, the trip, the evening:  I didn't want this evening to end!! We had an incredible time in Thailand....Perhaps one day we can return :o)
