It was freezing cold, so different than the last couple of days.

We ate at a local pancake house next door to the hotel in Williamsburg. OMG it was so good. Apparently pancakes are a big deal in Williamsburg because we had driven down the main street and counted *several* pancake houses.

We then got everything packed up and in the car. We stopped by the Merchant's square for some last minute shopping. Then we headed to Herndon where our hotel was located and got checked in.

We drove around a little and got to see the Pentagon. We saw the area where they are making a 9/11 monument.

We got hungry for lunch and found a convenient place called Qdoba. From there we headed to Alexandria, VA.

We walked around and did some shopping. We had to buy me a sweatshirt, and DH and DS skullcaps because it was so cold. They have a lot of fun stores though.

Looks like they have several fantastic restaurants in the area also. We stopped in at a French bakery/cafe/bistro (la Madeleine) to warm up and get some hot drinks.

We watched the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony in the square. It was very crowded with people. But fun to see.

It was then time to go on our Walking Ghost Tour. By now it was bone-chilling freezing. But we took it on and walked around old Alexandria listening to ghost stories. The tour ended in the Christ Church Cemetary. It was fun (and not scary at all--so it's great for kids).

On our way back to the hotel we drove by The George Washington Masonic National Memorial, which was brightly lit in the dark night.
